Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to control it.

Last updated: 2026-05-16

TL;DR

We collect the minimum information needed to send you a weekly newsletter that's relevant to your country. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with anyone outside the providers below, and you can ask us to delete everything at any time.

Who runs this site

This website and the Youth Opportunities EU newsletter are operated by Youth Opportunities EU (a project, contactable at the address at the bottom of this page). If you have a question about this policy or about your data, write to us — we read every message.

What we collect when you sign up

When you fill in the newsletter form on this site we collect:

  • your first name
  • your email address
  • your selected country (so we can send you the right edition)
  • which page you signed up from (e.g. homepage, Erasmus+ guide)
  • marketing-attribution parameters from the URL (UTM source / medium / campaign) when present
  • your IP address briefly, for rate-limiting and spam protection
  • the date and time you signed up

That's it. We do not ask for your date of birth, address, phone number, or any sensitive personal data.

What we use it for

  • To send you the weekly Youth Opportunities EU newsletter for your country.
  • To keep your country preference accurate over time (you can change it from any newsletter using the preference link).
  • To stop signup-form abuse (rate-limiting and spam protection).
  • To understand which signup pages work so we can improve them. We look only at aggregate signup counts per source, not individual behaviour.

We do not use your data for advertising, do not profile you, and do not pass it to third-party advertisers.

How long we keep it

  • If you stay subscribed, we keep your data for as long as you receive the newsletter.
  • If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal record (your email and the fact that you unsubscribed) so that we don't accidentally add you again from another source. You can ask us to delete this record at any time.
  • Spam-protection request logs are kept for at most 30 days.

Lawful basis (GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)) when you submit the signup form, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in preventing form abuse when we briefly record IP addresses for rate-limiting (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct any data that is inaccurate;
  • have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten");
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • restrict or object to our processing of your data;
  • withdraw your consent at any time (the easiest way is the unsubscribe link in any newsletter — that removes you from Kit immediately);
  • complain to your national data-protection authority if you believe we have handled your data incorrectly.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects how your data is used, we will update the "last updated" date at the top and, where the change is significant, mention it in the next newsletter.
